Islamabad

The capital of Pakistan is located against the backdrop of Margalla Hills, which are part of the Himalayan mountain range. It is a new city as its master plan was prepared in 1960. Islamabad is just 15 km from its older twin city of Rawalpindi.RawalpindiThe twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad lie against the backdrop of Margalla Hills on the Potohar Plateau. On the basis of archaeological discoveries, archaeologists believe that a distinct culture flourished on this plateau as far back as 300,000 years. Over the years Rawalpindi has retained its traditional flavour. Rawalpindi specializes in handicrafts. The bazaars of the old city offer exciting bargains.
